Severe-weather Technology, Observation, and Risk Monitoring Laboratory (STORM Lab) investigates the mechanisms underlying a wide range of extreme weather and climate phenomena, including tropical cyclones, tornadoes, monsoons, and marine heatwaves, as well as their responses to climate change. Our research integrates high-resolution Earth system modeling, satellite and observational data analysis, and AI- and big data-driven forecasting techniques to improve the predictability of hazardous weather and to quantitatively assess climate-related risks. Through these efforts, STORM Lab aims to advance the scientific understanding of extreme weather in a changing climate while providing robust scientific evidence and practical solutions for disaster risk reduction and climate adaptation.
